Sara Strassman is an experienced environmental policy and restoration professional with a focus on freshwater ecosystems. Currently serving as the Driftless Area Program Manager for Trout Unlimited since July 2022, Strassman oversees conservation efforts in a vital region across Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, and Illinois. Previous experience as a Mississippi River Policy & Planning Expert with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources involved coordinating dredging activities, ecosystem restoration, and water resource issues. Strassman also directed the River Restoration Program at American Rivers, where project management and policy advising were key responsibilities. Early career roles include a salesperson position at Running Fit, where event organization and runner training were primary duties, and an associate role at Hart Automotive Supply, involving inventory management and business operations. Strassman holds an M.S. in Natural Resource Policy from the University of Michigan and a B.S. with honors in Forestry/Conservation from Michigan State University.
