Matt Spence is a highly accomplished professional currently serving as the Managing Director and Global Head of Venture Capital Banking at Barclays Corporate & Investment Bank since September 2022. In addition to this role, Spence is an International Security Fellow at New America and has been a University Advisor to the President and Professor of Practice at Arizona State University’s Thunderbird School of Management since 2017. As a co-founder and board member of the Truman National Security Project, Spence has significantly contributed to national security discourse. Previously, Spence held various leadership positions including Managing Director at Guggenheim Partners, where expertise focused on technology mergers and acquisitions, and Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Middle East Policy at the United States Department of Defense. Spence’s educational background includes degrees from Yale Law School, the University of Oxford, and Stanford University, with a specialization in International Relations and Economics.
