Richard Yuan

Richard Yuan is an accomplished technology leader with extensive experience in software engineering and architectural roles. Currently serving as Chief Architect at Tsinghua University since May 2018, Richard previously held the position of VP of Software Engineering at Qbase LLC, where efforts focused on developing an in-memory non-SQL database using Agile methodology. Richard's long tenure at MicroStrategy Inc. from 1995 to 2015 included pivotal contributions as a key software developer and architect, establishing the China Technology Development Center, and leading efforts in high-performance Big Data analytics. Earlier experiences include software engineering at Utility System Inc. and a marketing specialist role at Silicon Graphics. Richard holds an MBA in Global Management and Finance from Virginia Tech, a Master’s in Computer Science from both Indiana University Bloomington and Tsinghua University, and a BA in Computer Engineering from the University of Science and Technology Beijing.
