Scott Hubacek, LSSGB, has extensive experience in the field of information technology and education. Currently serving as a Senior Data Operations Specialist at the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission since September 2015, Scott ensures accurate reporting from futures commodities merchants and investigates internal data for mergers and acquisitions. Scott has also been an Adjunct Faculty member at Morton College since May 1981, teaching Programming Logic for Business using Python. Their career began as a junior programmer at Morton College, and over the years, Scott held various positions at CME Group, including Director of Systems Engineering and Senior Manager of IT, leading initiatives in system development and security remediation. Earlier experience includes work as a Programmer/Analyst at Certified Grocers, where Scott contributed to converting accounting systems. Scott's academic background includes studies at Elmhurst University, DePaul University, and Morton College, with a focus on Computer Science.

The mission of the CFTC is to protect market users and the public from fraud, manipulation, and abusive practices related to the sale of commodity and financial futures and options, and to foster open, competitive, and financially sound futures and option markets. In pursuit of its mission, the CFTC investigates and prosecutes commodities fraud, including foreign currency schemes, energy manipulation and hedge fund fraud, and works with other federal and state agencies to bring criminal and other actions. The CFTC also engages in public education and outreach by participating in consumer groups and issuing Consumer Advisories and other educational materials.
