James Hawthorne

James Hawthorne, OMM, CD, currently serves as the Deputy Director of Strategy Policy and Plans at NORAD & US Northern Command since July 2022. With a distinguished career in the Canadian Armed Forces spanning from July 1994 to July 2022, James held various key positions, including Air Force Advisor to the United Kingdom and Canadian Defence Attaché to Iceland, as well as Commander of 12 Wing. James has extensive educational credentials, including a Master's degree in Defence Studies from the Royal Military College of Canada, and has completed multiple courses at the Canadian Forces College, focusing on National Security and Joint Command and Staff. This diverse experience equips James with a robust background in national and international defense strategy.
