Charles Scawthorn is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in academia and the consulting industry. Currently serving as President of SPA Risk LLC since 2003, Charles has also held prominent roles as a Visiting Researcher at the University of California, Berkeley since 2011, and as a Visiting Professor at various prestigious universities, including Waseda University, Beijing Normal University, Stanford University, and Kyoto University, where Charles was a professor and head of the Earthquake Disaster Prevention Systems Laboratory from 2003 to 2008. Prior to their academic career, Charles served as Sr. Vice President at EQE International Inc. from 1987 to 2003, significantly contributing to the firm's growth.
