Benjamin Depardon has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and companies. Benjamin started their career as an Intern at CIRIL in 2005, where they implemented a system for vacation requests and added functionalities to the intranet. In 2006, they worked as an Intern at ENS Lyon, studying cosmological simulations on distributed and heterogeneous environments.
From 2007 to 2010, Benjamin continued their work at ENS Lyon, where they undertook the roles of PhD Student and Intern. In these positions, they conducted research on the placement algorithms for distributed and heterogeneous platforms and performed large-scale experiments on the French research grid.
In 2010, Benjamin joined INRIA as an R&D Engineer before moving to SysFera, where they served as the VP Business Development and then as the CTO. During their time at SysFera, they focused on business development activities and held technical leadership responsibilities.
In 2016, Benjamin joined UCit as the CTO, followed by a role as a Pre-sales HPC & Visualisation architect at NICE for a few months in the same year.
Overall, Benjamin's work experience reflects their expertise in areas such as system development, business development, research, and technical leadership.
Benjamin Depardon earned a PhD in Computer Sciences from ENS de Lyon, where they studied from 2007 to 2010. Prior to that, they obtained a Master's degree in Computer Sciences from the same institution, completing their studies from 2006 to 2007. Benjamin also holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Sciences from INSA Lyon - Institut National des Sciences Appliquées de Lyon, which they achieved from 2002 to 2007. In addition to their formal education, Benjamin obtained several certifications, including the AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate from Amazon Web Services in April 2018, and the Certified Scrum Product Owner from Scrum Alliance in March 2012.

UCit
UCit* is a new kind of HPC Solution Provider. At UCit we do focus on usage rather than technology itself. We firmly believe that scientists, engineers, analysts should not spend their time trying to understand how infrastructure works nor trying to fix it. We know that more than ever, they need to collaborate – share and access data across HPC resources which are distributed across organisations and geographies. We understand that flexibility and ease-of-use is critical to support their evolving requirements from Machine Learning and Decision Making to traditional HPC workloads. We acknowledge that Computer Science is a Science and Exascale (or more…) is a critical resource needed to support the most important challenge humanity is facing. Simultaneously, at a smaller scale we will continue to act to democratize HPC through a true move towards HPC-as-a-Service. UCit helps public and private organisations of all sizes to access and use seamlessly HPC resources on-premises, on HPC Centers or on public clouds. We develop data-analysis (Analyze-IT) and machine learning(Predict-IT) software tools to understand how to optimize on-premises HPC usage. We enable HPC-as-a-Service to integrate Batch and Interactive workloads and to secure access to data and applications. We understand which workload can effectively move to public cloud, at which cost through our WorkCloud methodology, we prototype and run it in production. We work towards the development of an “HPC Wind Tunnel” to enable the creation of such services. Our approach is European and Collaborative.
