Jennifer Read is an experienced leader in environmental policy and management focused on water resource issues. Since 2012, Jennifer has served as the Director of the University of Michigan Water Center, guiding collaborative research to influence policies concerning the Great Lakes and coastal waters. Prior to this role, Jennifer was the Deputy Director of the Great Lakes Observing System from 2008 to 2014, overseeing management operations and strategic direction. Jennifer's earlier work includes serving as the Assistant Director and Research Coordinator at Michigan Sea Grant, where responsibilities included strategic planning and partnership development, and as a Program Specialist at the Great Lakes Commission. Educational qualifications include a Ph.D. in Environmental Policy History from Western University, an M.A. in History from McMaster University, and a BA in History/Political Science from King's University College.
