Mauricio Bedoya-Gaitan

Mauricio Bedoya-Gaitan is a seasoned expert in environmental affairs, currently serving as a Senior Advisor on Environmental Affairs for Colombia and the Colombia Project Portfolio Manager at the UN Environment Programme since September 2019. With extensive experience in biodiversity and ecosystem services, Mauricio held key roles such as Senior Program Officer at the Embassy of Switzerland in Colombia and Advisor to the Colombian National Assessment on Biodiversity at the Alexander von Humboldt Research Institute. Previous positions include leading the Technical Support Unit for the Americas at IPBES and consulting for the Ministry of Agriculture on strategic environmental policies. As Associate Director of Philanthropy at The Nature Conservancy, Mauricio focused on fostering partnerships with the private sector. Educational credentials include an MSc in Sustainable Development and Conservation Biology from the University of Maryland and a Biologist degree from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana.
