Shilpa Bhardwaj has a diverse work experience spanning over 18 years. Shilpa started their career as a Resident in Preventive Medicine at the University College of Medical Sciences, Delhi in 2002. Shilpa then gained experience as a Research Assistant at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health from 2005 to 2006. Shilpa continued their work at the Johns Hopkins Hospital as a Clinical Research Coordinator from 2006 to 2008. In 2008, they joined the Johns Hopkins University as an Epidemiologist. In 2009, they completed an Internal & Preventive Medicine Residency at Griffin Hospital. From 2013 to 2016, they worked as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the MOSES CONE HEALTH SYSTEM. In 2016, they joined the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services as the Health Care Associated Infections Medical Director. Shilpa currently holds positions as a Physician and Medical Director at UNC Physicians Network, where they have been working since 2018.

Shilpa Bhardwaj obtained their MBBS degree in Medicine from Sambalpur University between 1994 and 2001. Shilpa then pursued an MD in Preventive Medicine at the University College of Medical Sciences from 2002 to 2005. In 2005, they attended The Johns Hopkins University, completing an MPH with a focus in Epidemiology and Biostatistics by 2006. Finally, they earned a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from Yale University, concluding their studies in 2013.
