Ermias Biadgleng

Legal Expert at UNCTAD

Ermias Biadgleng serves as a Legal Expert at UNCTAD since September 2008, specializing in policy and legal research and analysis, alongside formulating policy advice and strategies for development and international cooperation. Prior to this role, Ermias was a Programme Officer at South Centre from September 2004 to July 2008, where responsibilities included preparing research papers and providing technical assistance on intellectual property and investment issues for developing countries. From October 1999 to September 2004, Ermias worked as a Legal Expert in the International Law Directorate of the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Ethiopia, advising on international law and negotiating various agreements. Additionally, Ermias began a legal career as a Legal Assistant at Ethiopian Airlines in 1998. Educational qualifications include an LL.B from Addis Ababa University, an LL.M in international trade and investment from the University of Western Cape, and a certificate in Private International Law from the Hague Academy of International Law, among others.
