George Papagiannis

George Papagiannis is an experienced media and communications professional currently serving as the Representative to the Government of Sudan and Head of Office at UNESCO since May 2012. With a strong background in media development, Papagiannis has held various significant positions, including Chief Media Services, where leadership was provided in transforming public information teams to meet digital demands, and Officer in Charge for UNESCO Iraq, overseeing $5 million in media development activities in a post-conflict setting. Additional experience includes serving as Director of Media Training and Vice President at Internews Network, Director of Communications for Representative Nancy Pelosi, and owning a media consulting firm that launched innovative radio formats in Europe. Papagiannis's education includes a degree in Broadcast Journalism from Boston University.
