Richard L. Garwin

Richard L. Garwin is a recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom (2016), a National Medal of Science Laureate (2002), and Fellow Emeritus at IBM. For 10 years, he was Philip D. Reed Senior Fellow for Science and Technology at the Council on Foreign Relations. He contributed to the first thermonuclear weapons and photo-intelligence satellites, and has served on the President’s Science Advisory Committee, the Defense Science Board, and is a member of the National Academy of Sciences, the National Academy of Engineering, and the National Academy of Medicine.
