Sheena Washington, PHR, SHRM-CP, has a diverse work experience spanning various roles in human resources and related fields. Sheena has been with UNITE HERE since 2012, starting as a Human Resources Administrative Assistant and progressing to positions such as Human Resources Projects Coordinator, Human Resources Generalist, HR Manager, and currently serving as the Human Resources Director. Additionally, they have been a Board Member at NYC SHRM from 2021 to 2022. Prior to their time at UNITE HERE, Sheena gained experience as a Human Resources Intern at 21 Club, Orient-Express Hotel Ltd. Sheena also held a role as an Executive Team Leader at Target. Before entering the HR field, they worked as a Business and Mathematics Tutor at Polytechnic Institute of New York University and as a Youth Recreational Advisor at Oasis.
Sheena Washington, PHR, SHRM-CP, obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Technology Management from the Polytechnic Institute of New York University in the years 2006 to 2010. Additionally, they hold certifications as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR®) from the HR Certification Institute and as a SHRM-CP from the Society for Human Resource Management.

UNITE HERE represents more than 250,000 workers throughout the U.S. and Canada who work in the hospitality, gaming, food service, manufacturing, textile, laundry, and airport industries. UNITE HERE boasts a diverse membership, comprising workers from many immigrant communities as well as high percentages of African-American, Latino, and Asian-American workers. The majority of UNITE HERE members are women. Through organizing, UNITE HERE members have made apparel jobs in the South, hotel housekeeping jobs in cities across North America, and hundreds of thousands of other traditionally low-wage jobs into good, family-sustaining, middle class jobs.
