Tony Dean is a seasoned hardware engineer with over 40 years of experience in the industry. Since February 2007, Tony has held the position of Senior Hardware Engineer - Emeritus at Universal Audio, specializing in hardware and FPGA design for the Apollo and UAD-2 product lines, transitioning to part-time semi-retirement in 2025. Prior to this, from September 1985 to February 2007, Tony served as a Senior Hardware Engineer at E-mu Systems, working on firmware for various keyboard and hardware products. Earlier experience includes a role as a Hardware Engineer at Sequential Circuits, contributing to designs for the Tom drum machine and Prophet series synthesizers, and a brief stint as a video game programmer at Synapse Software. Tony began a career in engineering as a Junior Engineer/Technician at Analog/Digital Associates, focusing on audio effects. Tony holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from UC Santa Barbara and graduated from Davis High School, with early education at Nido de Aguilas in Santiago, Chile.
