The Lignocellulosic Material Research Centre (LMRC) is a research institution, dedicated to conducting research and training students at the post-graduate level within a multidisciplinary framework. The approaches adopted by researchers working in a variety of fields are put to work in pursuing the Centre's collective goals. These objectives are defined according to the specialization of its researchers, the resources available and the projects developed. Within this context, the LMRC has developed a structure that permits to contribute to research objectives and priorities of the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières and its post-graduate students training program. The Lignocellulosic Materials Research Centre combines the fundamental and applied research studies of the Pulp and Paper Industry as well as composite materials and lignocellulosic materials, so as to contribute to the economic and technological development of the Industry. The range of scientific studies applicable to Pulp and Paper is vast and includes numerous areas of research directly related to the technological aspects of the actual operations carried out within a mill. The Centre has selected research themes that directly concern mill operations and it is not our intent to cover each area extensively towards various aspects of specific problems. The central themes chosen concern problems found at the interface of several branches of science and thus benefices from the combined participation of chemists, chemical, mechanical and forestry engineers and also biophysicists highly specialized in the area of lignocellulosic materials.
