Deborah Williams has a strong background in analytics, internal audit, and safe disclosure. Deborah began their career at Alberta Education in 1997, where they worked as a Manager of Information Management and Analytics. Deborah then progressed to roles such as Senior Manager of Continuous Improvement and Director of CEU Monitoring. In 2006, they joined the Government of Alberta as the Director of Program Evaluation. In 2007, they returned to Alberta Education as the Director of Project Management and Public Engagement. Since 2010, they have been serving as the Associate Vice President and Chief Analytics Officer at the University of Alberta, where they lead a team of analysts, data scientists, and programmers to support data-driven decision making.

Deborah Williams obtained a Master's degree in Sociology from the University of Toronto from 1995 to 1996. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor's degree in Sociology from the same university from 1990 to 1994.
