Dick Burgess

Dick Burgess has extensive experience in both the legal and photographic fields. As a Senior Counsel at DuPont Legal from 1971 to 1998, Dick specialized in patent, technology, and international trade law, influencing technologies such as "Teflon" finishes and "Corian" solid surface materials. Additionally, Dick owned Great Photos by RHB since 1990, capturing events and nature through a unique photographic lens. The American Intellectual Property Law Association recognizes Dick as a Life Member and former committee chair, while teaching international trade law at The Philadelphia Institute from 1993 to 1995. Dick's commitment to lifelong learning is evident in participation with the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Delaware since 2004 and prior involvement with the Wilmington Trail Club. Educational achievements include a JD from Case Western Reserve University School of Law and a BS in Nuclear and Metallurgical Engineering from North Carolina State University.

The University of Delaware - a state assisted, privately chartered institution - is a Land Grant, Sea Grant, Space Grant and Carnegie Research University (very high research activity). The University, with origins in 1743, was chartered by the State of Delaware in 1833. A Women's College was opened in 1914, and in 1945 UD became permanently coeducational. The main campus is located in Newark, Delaware, a suburban community of nearly 30,000, situated midway between Philadelphia and Baltimore. Courses are also offered at the Wilmington campus and at other locations throughout the State, including Dover, Georgetown, Milford, and Lewes.
