John Bucksbaum is the Founder and CEO of Bucksbaum Properties, a Chicago-based real estate development company, established in 2012. Previously, he served as CEO of General Growth Properties, a publicly-traded real estate investment trust from 1999 to 2008 and remained on the board until 2010. John is active on professional and community boards, including the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago, the U.S. Ski Team Foundation, and USA Cycling Foundation.
John and his wife Jackie, who worked in the motion picture industry for 15 years, have two sons, Max and Eli. The Bucksbaums were chairs of DU’s Parent Leadership Council through Spring 2022 and Eli is a member of DU’s Class of 2022.
John earned his BA in 1978 in Economics from the University of Denver.
