Henk-Jan Schoonbeek

Henk-Jan Schoonbeek is a highly experienced researcher specializing in plant pathology and genomics. Currently serving as a Postdoctoral Research Assistant at the University of East Anglia since April 2022, Henk-Jan is focused on developing innovative RNAseq methods for population genomics. Prior to this role, Henk-Jan held positions at the John Innes Centre, including Postdoctoral Research Associate working on aphid candidate effectors and several Postdoctoral Research Assistant roles that encompassed the design of new tomato varieties, projects on Brassica pathology, and the development of an E-module on responsible research conduct. Henk-Jan's experience also includes consulting at CN Seeds Ltd and postdoctoral research at Université de Fribourg, where significant work on pathogen mechanisms and biological control was conducted. Educationally, Henk-Jan holds a PhD in Molecular Plant Pathology from Wageningen University & Research and a Master's degree in Chemistry with a focus on Molecular Genetics from Leiden University.
