Alonzo Cantu

Alonzo Cantu was appointed to the University of Houston System Board of Regents by Governor Greg Abbot in 2019 and will serve through August 31, 2025. For Fiscal Year 2022-2023, Mr. Cantu will serve as vice chair of the Facilities, Construction and Master Planning Committee, the Audit and Compliance Committee, the Academic and Student Success Committee, as well as the Finance and Administration Committee.

Alonzo Cantu has been credited by many as being a central driving force behind the transformation of the business and political landscape of South Texas, the third fastest growing metropolitan statistical area in the country, as a banker, developer, philanthropist and dedicated community organizer.
