Andrew Margenot

Andrew Margenot is an Associate Professor at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, a position held since August 2017, and also serves as the Associate Director of the Agroecosystem Sustainability Center since January 2022. Prior experience includes a postdoctoral research role at UC Davis focused on nanoparticle transport and fate in soil-plant systems, as well as graduate research on soil organic matter and phosphorus cycling, resulting in a Ph.D. in Soil Science & Biogeochemistry from the University of California, Davis. Additional professional experiences encompass volunteer work as a soil scientist with Partners of the Americas and as a visiting researcher at the International Center for Tropical Agriculture, where research included phosphorus management in tropical savannas and Kenya. Andrew Margenot also held an undergraduate research assistant position in organic chemistry during studies at Connecticut College.
