Demi Gao

Demi Gao is a Senior Research Fellow at the Bionics Institute since February 2023, focusing on enhancing cochlear implant programming through Functional near-infrared spectroscopy. Concurrently, Demi serves as an Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Melbourne and has held multiple roles there, including MRFF REDI Fellow and McKenzie Research Fellow, concentrating on the performance and design of biomedical devices. Previously, Demi worked as a Senior Research Engineer at Cochlear, maximizing totally implanted cochlear implants' performance. Earlier experience includes research on brain connectivity and dynamics at the ARC Centre of Excellence for Integrative Brain Function and the University of Sydney, as well as research in electrophysiology and algorithm development at Flinders University. Demi Gao holds a Ph.D. in Information Technology from the University of South Australia.
