Thomas O'Sullivan is an accomplished academic and researcher in the field of electrical engineering, currently serving as an Associate Professor at the University of Notre Dame since July 2016 and previously as an Assistant Professor in the same department. O'Sullivan co-founded NearWave in November 2020 and has extensive experience at the Beckman Laser Institute, where roles included Director of the Diffuse Optical Spectroscopy & Imaging Laboratory and Postdoctoral Scholar, focusing on the clinical application of optical imaging technologies, particularly for breast cancer. Earlier work includes a PhD from Stanford University, where novel optical-based biomedical sensors were engineered, and various internships in research-oriented positions at notable institutions such as the Transportation Security Laboratory and Idaho National Laboratory.
