Maggie Lieu

Maggie Lieu is a distinguished Senior Research Fellow in Machine Learning & Cosmology at the University of Nottingham, where active research focuses on applying machine learning to critical challenges in Cosmology, Astrophysics, and Space Science. In addition to research, Maggie developed and lectures the Machine Learning in Science II module for the MSc program. As an Editor for Elsevier, responsibility includes overseeing Astrostatistics and Machine Learning publications for the Astronomy and Computing journal. Maggie also serves as Director of Lieu Media, engaging in content creation and marketing. Previous positions include Research Fellow at the European Space Agency focusing on statistical analysis for the Euclid space telescope, Scientific Advisor at Atomicom Limited, and public engagement roles at the University of Birmingham. Maggie holds a Ph.D. in Astronomy and Astrophysics from the University of Birmingham and has additional degrees from UCLA and the University of Kent, with ongoing postgraduate studies at the University of Nottingham.
