Melissa Dettmer (Schild), PMP, currently serves as the Associate Vice Chancellor for Strategic Initiatives in the Office of the Chancellor at the University of Pittsburgh, overseeing the execution of strategic initiatives and partnering with leaders to identify transformative opportunities. Previous roles at the University include serving as Associate Vice Chancellor and Assistant Vice Chancellor for Strategic Planning & Performance in the Office of the CFO, where Melissa developed the university's five-year strategy and launched the Pitt Project Management Office. With extensive experience in government, Melissa held senior positions at the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, focusing on strategic planning, performance management, and policy analysis. Melissa holds a Master of Public Administration from USC, a Master of Science in National Resource Strategy from the National Defense University, and a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Southern California, along with leadership development training from Harvard Business School and INSEAD.
