Emanuela Gatto is a Professor of Physical Chemistry and Sustainable Materials at Università di Roma Tor Vergata since January 2009, where responsibilities include teaching a Physical Chemistry course for the Material Science Degree and conducting research on molecular systems using spectroscopic and electrochemical techniques. Emanuela is currently engaged in research focusing on peptide nanotechnology, bio-inspired functional nanomaterials, bioplastics, and liquid biopsy. In addition, Emanuela serves as the Chief Executive Officer and founder of Splastica srl, an innovative startup dedicated to producing a new generation of 100% bio-based, biodegradable, and compostable bioplastics derived from natural polymers and food waste through sustainable synthesis. Emanuela holds a post-doctorate degree from the University of Rome Tor Vergata and the University of Linkoping in Sweden, alongside a doctorate in Chemistry and a Laurea in Chemistry, both from Università di Roma Tor Vergata.
