Andrew Fraknoi is a prominent educator and author in the field of astronomy, currently serving as a Professor of Astronomy at the University of San Francisco since September 2017, where Andrew teaches non-technical classes for retired adults. Fraknoi is the lead author of an online introductory astronomy textbook for OpenStax, impacting nearly 700,000 students and saving them significant college costs. Fraknoi has contributed to children’s astronomy education through a book on eclipses published with Dennis Schatz. A founding member of the Board of Trustees of the SETI Institute, Fraknoi has held numerous positions in astronomy education and outreach, including consulting and lecturing, and has been involved with the Astronomical Society of the Pacific and various educational projects. Fraknoi holds both a Master of Arts in Astronomy from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Bachelor of Arts in Astronomy and Astrophysics from Harvard University.
