Vernon Phoenix is a Professor and Head of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Strathclyde, a position held since June 2016. Prior to this role, Vernon served as a Reader and RCUK academic fellow then Lecturer at the University of Glasgow from August 2005 to June 2016. Vernon began an academic career as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Toronto from July 2001 to August 2005. Educational qualifications include a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Geological and Earth Sciences/Geosciences from the University of Leeds, completed in 2001, a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Geochemistry from the University of Leeds in 1997, and a B.Sc. (Hons) in Geology from Aberystwyth University, awarded in 1995.
