Tan Sui

Tan Sui is an accomplished academic and researcher in the field of materials engineering, currently serving as a member of the Advanced Metals Processing Steering Group at the Henry Royce Institute and as the Director of Postgraduate Research at the University of Surrey. Responsibilities include overseeing seven PhD programs, ensuring admission approvals, and monitoring key milestones for student progress. Tan has held various academic positions, including Associate Professor and Deputy Head of the Centre for Engineering Materials, and has actively contributed to the Women's Engineering Society as a Steering Group member and Chair for the Surrey Education Partnership. With a longstanding role as a visiting researcher at the National Physical Laboratory and multiple affiliations with organizations such as the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining and the EPSRC, Tan also engages in principal and co-investigator roles in national research initiatives, including work with the Diamond Light Source and ISIS Neutron and Muon Source.
