Fabio Petito

Fabio Petito is a Nonresident Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council's Freedom and Prosperity Center since March 2025. As a Professor of International Relations and Professor of Religion & International Affairs at the University of Sussex since September 2007, Fabio also serves as the Director of the Religion & Foreign Policy Initiative. Additional roles include Scientific Coordinator for the 'Religions & IR' Initiative with ISPI and the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Fabio's previous academic positions include Visiting Lecturer at the NATO Defense College, External Lecturer at the University of Naples - L'Orientale, Teaching Fellow at SOAS University of London, and Visiting Assistant Professor at ESCP Europe. Educational achievements include a PhD in International Relations from The London School of Economics and Political Science, a Master of Science in International Politics from Aberystwyth University, and a BA in Economic and Social Sciences from Università Bocconi. Fabio's foundational education was completed at Liceo Umberto I in Naples, Italy.
