Mircea Stan

Director Of The Computer Engineering Program at University of Virginia

Mircea Stan has been a prominent figure at the University of Virginia since September 1996, serving as Director of the Computer Engineering Program, Virginia Microelectronics Consortium (VMEC) Professor, and Professor, focusing on high-performance low-power VLSI, temperature-aware circuits and architecture, embedded systems, storage, spintronics, and nanoelectronics. In addition to academic roles, Mircea has been Editor-in-Chief for IEEE Transactions on VLSI Systems since 2019 and serves as Associate Director of the Center for Automata Processing. Mircea has extensive consulting experience with various organizations, including the National Radio Astronomy Observatory and HRL Laboratories, and has contributed as a visiting faculty member at UC Berkeley. Mircea holds a PhD and M.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, along with a diploma in Electronics and Telecommunications from the University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest.
