Sewoong Oh is a Professor in the Allen School of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Washington since January 2019 and serves as a Staff Research Scientist at Google from March 2022. Previously, Sewoong Oh held positions as an Associate Professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign from July 2012 to December 2018 and worked as a Visiting Faculty at Google in 2017. Sewoong Oh began an academic career as a Postdoctoral Associate at MIT, focusing on Social Computing, High-dimensional Statistical Problems, and Graphical Models from January 2011 to July 2012. An earlier engineering role was held at sanion from 2002 to 2005. Sewoong Oh earned a Ph.D. and an MS in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University, completing degrees from 2005 to 2011, and received a BS in Electrical Engineering from Seoul National University from 1998 to 2002.
