Dan Negrut is a distinguished academic and professional in the field of mechanical engineering and computer science, serving as the Bernard A. and Frances M. Weideman Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison since November 2005. In addition to this role, Dan currently holds the position of Affiliate Professor in the Department of Computer Science and has been the Technical Lead at the UW-Madison Simulation Based Engineering Lab since its inception. Previously, Dan served as the Director of the Wisconsin Applied Computing Center from December 2012 to January 2022 and worked as a Visiting Scientist at Argonne National Laboratory. Dan’s industry experience includes roles as a Product Development Engineer with MSC.Software and Mechanical Dynamics, Inc., specializing in the ADAMS/Solver group. Dan earned a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Iowa and a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautics from Institutul Politehnic Bucuresti, Romania.
