David Long

Applied Population Laboratory Director at University of Wisconsin

David Long serves as the Director and Associate Director of the Applied Population Laboratory at the University of Wisconsin-Madison since September 1995, where expertise in spatial data analysis, GIS, and statistical modeling is provided. Prior roles include researcher and graduate research and teaching assistant, during which methods for modeling U.S. populations were developed and tested. Earlier experience as a Community Outreach Counselor for The Mayhew Program involved counseling and advocating for at-risk youth, collaborating with their families and community members. David Long holds a Master of Science in Sociology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Michigan.
