Mark Gibson

Mark Gibson is a highly experienced technical writer and editor specializing in environmental science and policy. Currently serving at the US Environmental Protection Agency since February 2021, Mark contributes to the Existing Chemicals Risk Assessment Division. Prior to this role, Mark held significant positions, including Director of Chlorine Issues at the American Chemistry Council, where advocacy and research activities for water treatment were managed, and as a Policy Research Analyst at the Global Biological Standards Institute, leading research and policy coordination. A strong background in technical writing and editing is evident from freelance editing roles at the Water Environment Federation and positions as Senior Scientist at Tetra Tech Clancy Environmental and Senior Associate at ICF International. Earlier experience includes directing studies at the National Academy of Sciences and conducting risk assessments at Karch and Associates, backed by advanced degrees in Environmental Science and Biology from George Mason University and Virginia Tech, respectively.
