Karen Fies

Karen Fies retired as the Director of the Sonoma County Human Services Department in October 2020. As Director, she led a staff of over 900 employees and a budget of approximately $350M. Karen worked for Sonoma County for almost 35 years, starting out as an entry-level case manager, a social worker, analyst, grant writer, program manager, and then executive-level management. Karen earned a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Sonoma State University and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from University of California, Davis.
