Tom Hamels

Tom Hamels is a seasoned finance professional currently serving as a Business Controller and Staff Member in the Financial Directorate at UZ Leuven since September 2012. In this role, Tom focuses on financial project management, particularly in collaboration with the Belgian Government, while also providing functional leadership and mentorship in personal growth. Responsibilities include optimizing reporting pipelines, serving on steering committees to offer expert insights on hospital financing, and acting as a liaison between IT services and the Department of Finance. Tom also actively contributes to the local youth movement as a board member and financial responsible for Speelplein Don Bosco Oud-Heverlee, and has held various leadership roles within Scouts en Gidsen Vlaanderen. Tom possesses a Master’s degree in Health Care Administration/Management and a Master of Applied Economic Sciences, specializing in Accounting and Finance from KU Leuven.
