Alexandre P. Alves da Silva

Alexandre P. Alves da Silva, PhD, FIEEE, currently serves as the Decarbonization Technology Development Manager and Chief Researcher at Vale, where responsibilities focus on R&D consulting and decarbonization initiatives related to greenhouse gas emissions. Previous roles include Visiting Professor at Universidade Federal Fluminense and Industrial Technologies Regional Leader at GE Global Research, overseeing R&D in automation and performance management for various sectors. Also held positions as Smart Systems Center of Excellence Leader and Full Professor at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, and Full Professor at Universidade Federal de Itajubá, emphasizing research and education in electrical engineering. Early career experience includes postdoctoral research and a research position at CEPEL. Alves da Silva earned a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Waterloo and has been a Visiting Scholar at the University of Washington.
