Mitchell Flax is an experienced educational leader and executive coach currently serving as the Founder and Executive Director of Valence College Prep, a tuition-free public charter school in Queens, New York, which began operations in 2019 and now educates approximately 440 students. Flax previously gained valuable experience as a Fellow at Building Excellent Schools and as a Grade Level, Department, and Content Team Lead at Leadership Public Schools, where responsibilities included leading various teams, teaching multiple biology sections, and launching a computer science course. Earlier roles include a People Analyst position at Google, a teacher at the Oakland Unified School District as part of Teach For America, and various operational and analytical roles at Columbia University and Mercer. Flax holds a B.A. in Economics-Mathematics from Columbia University.
