Alexander Langerman has extensive experience in the field of head and neck surgery. Alexander served as a Head and Neck Surgeon at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where they specialized in oncologic surgery and microvascular reconstruction. Alexander has expertise in minimally invasive techniques such as transoral robotic surgery and major resections involving free tissue transfer. Alexander had particular clinical interests in various conditions including parotid gland tumors, airway reconstruction, and salivary gland disease. Prior to their role at Vanderbilt, they were a surgeon and researcher at the University of Chicago Medical Center, where they also directed the Operative Performance Research Institute. In addition to their clinical work, Alexander is a Co-Founder of Explorer Surgical Corporation, a company focused on real-time surgical procedure workflow management and data acquisition. The company was acquired by GHX in 2021.

Alexander Langerman has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biochemistry and Philosophy from Cornell College, which they obtained from 1995 to 1999. Alexander then pursued a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree at The University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine from 2000 to 2005. Later, from 2013 to 2015, they earned a Master's Degree in Public Health Science from the University of Chicago. In 2014, they obtained a certification in Clinical Medical Ethics from the MacLean Center for Clinical Medical Ethics at the University of Chicago.
