Yossi Matias

Yossi Matias serves as the Head of Google Research and Vice President of Engineering & Research at Google since August 2006, contributing significantly to Search and AI Research. As the Founding Managing Director of the Google Center in Israel, Yossi established the Tel Aviv Engineering Center and integrated it with the Haifa Center to create a strategic hub. Additionally, Yossi is the Founding Executive Lead of Campus TLV and the Google for Startup Accelerator, fostering innovation and supporting startups globally. Yossi also holds a Senior Director position in Search at Tel Aviv University, serves on the advisory boards of Verily Life Sciences and SandboxAQ, and is a board member for IATI, where the role includes chairing the Multi National Companies Forum. Yossi’s prior experience includes positions at Stanford University, HyperRoll, Inc., Zapper Technologies, Bell Laboratories, and the University of Maryland. Yossi earned a PhD (with distinction), MSc (with excellence), and BSc (cum laude) in Computer Science and Mathematics from Tel Aviv University and the Weizmann Institute of Science, respectively.
