Jo-Anne M. is an experienced legal and health professional with a diverse background in public health, academic instruction, and governance. Currently serving as Director at Northern Health and Associate Professor in the School of Public Health and Preventative Medicine at Monash University, Jo-Anne also holds several key roles, including Convenor of the Medical Law Program and Local Government Arbiter Panel Member. Additional positions include Legal Member at the Mental Health Tribunal of Victoria and Deputy Chair at the Independent Office for School Dispute Resolution. Jo-Anne's commitment to high-quality, person-centered care is exemplified through directorship at Kilmore and District Hospital and prior leadership at Albury Wodonga Health. As an institution focused on forensic medicine and related sciences, we serve the community and the courts. Our statutory responsibilities are to provide independent, expert forensic medical and scientific services to the justice system, tissue for transplantation, and to teach and to undertake research. The VIFM provides the justice system with evidence to underpin safe convictions and appropriate acquittals. Our doctors help investigate deaths reported to the Coroner, examine alleged offenders and assess, treat and support victims of crime. The Donor Tissue Bank of Victoria supports patients and their families by providing safe tissues for transplantation and medical research.
