Alexander Powling

Alexander Powling is a highly experienced data scientist currently serving as the Lead Data Scientist at Virgin Media O2 since September 2023. Prior to this role, Alexander held several positions at iwoca from June 2016 to December 2022, including Head of Data Science - Credit, Lead Risk and Data Scientist, and Risk and Data Scientist. Alexander's academic background includes a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Theoretical Particle Physics from the University of Manchester, where research focused on perturbative Quantum Chromodynamics at the Large Hadron Collider. Notably, Alexander developed and optimized hierarchical cluster finding algorithms as part of the PhD project. Previous experience also includes a position as a Science Technician at Southgate College and a PhD project that involved teaching assistant responsibilities. Alexander completed a Master's degree in Physics at the University of Manchester, following an education at The Latymer School.
