Michael Rao serves as the President of Virginia Commonwealth University since 2009, bringing extensive leadership experience from previous roles as President and Tenured Professor at Central Michigan University (2000 - 2009) and Chancellor and Tenured Professor at Montana State University (1998 - 2000). Prior to these positions, Michael Rao was Interim President and President, as well as Dean of Cultural and Technical Arts at Mission College from 1992 to 1998. Michael Rao holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Higher Education and Business Administration from the University of Florida and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Chemistry from the University of South Florida.
