Jeremy Key is an experienced attorney currently serving as an Assistant Attorney General in the Cold Case, Actual Innocence, and Special Investigations Unit at the Virginia Office of Attorney General since March 2022. Previously, Jeremy worked as an Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney at the Virginia Beach Commonwealth's Attorney's Office and the Newport News Commonwealth's Attorney's Office, where responsibilities included prosecuting various misdemeanors and felonies and serving as a liaison to fire marshal offices. Jeremy's legal career began with internships in both Newport News and Virginia Beach, focusing on court proceedings and legal research. With a background that includes serving as a Security Officer and a Paralegal Specialist in the US Army, Jeremy holds a Doctor of Law (J.D.) from Regent University School of Law and a Bachelor's degree in Speech Communication from the University of Texas at Tyler.

The Virginia Office of the Attorney General is the Commonwealth's law firm. In addition to representing the interests of the people of Virginia, our clients are Virginia state government and its agencies, boards and commissions. The Office of the Attorney General includes a chief deputy attorney general, four deputy attorneys general who oversee 21 specialized sections of the law, and other employees including assistant attorneys general, additional lawyers appointed as counsel to particular agencies or universities, legal assistants, legal secretaries and other professional support staff.
