Chung Ma

Chung Ma, CFA, is a seasoned investment professional with a rich background in portfolio management and quantitative analysis. Currently serving as Managing Director at Virginia Retirement System since 2013, Chung leads the Investments Executive Committee and the Investments Management Committee while also managing an emerging markets active equity strategy and the Currency Management Committee. Prior experience at AllianceBernstein from 1999 to 2013 includes managing stand-alone and currency overlay strategies across global, G-10, and emerging markets, achieving notable positive returns during a challenging period for currency managers. Initial career experience as a Management Consultant at Accenture, Inc. involved managing engagements for Fortune 500 financial services and telecom/tech companies. Chung holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Wesleyan University and a Master of Arts in Economics from Hunter College, along with educational experience at Tsinghua University.
