Ty Bowers

Ty Bowers is an experienced communications professional with a background in public relations, digital media, and journalism. Currently serving as the PR & Digital Communications Strategy Supervisor at the Virginia Retirement System since February 2016, Ty leads an award-winning team, producing a B2B newsletter that informs over 6,000 subscribers about VRS updates. Prior to this role, Ty worked as a Curriculum Developer & Digital Media Specialist at the National White Collar Crime Center, managing social media, online branding, and content creation. Earlier experience includes serving as a Communications Specialist at the Southern Arizona Arts and Cultural Alliance, where funding proposals were authored, and as a Journalist & Editor in both Virginia and Arizona, covering various topics and earning several awards for reporting. Ty holds a B.S. in Mass Communications from Virginia Commonwealth University.
