Bert started their career at Danone, where they served in various roles such as Supply Chain Director, Purchase Manager, Supply Chain Project Manager, Warehouse Manager, and Logistics Trainee from 1990 to 2010.

Bert Claes attended Katholieke Hogeschool Kempen from 1987 to 1989, studying Industrieel management / Industrial engineering and management. Bert did not earn a degree during this time.
