Visit Indy
Susie Townsend has a diverse work experience spanning over several decades. Susie is currently serving as the Chief Destination Experience Officer at Visit Indy since January 2023. In this role, they oversee various departments, including Convention Services, Convention and Leisure Housing, and Visitor Experience.
Prior to their current position, Susie held the role of Senior Vice President at Visit Indy since July 1989. During their tenure, they served as a loaned executive for the Indianapolis Super Bowl Host Committee in 2011 and 2012. Susie also actively participated in the local organizing committees for numerous major events held in Indianapolis.
In addition to their roles at Visit Indy, Susie also worked as an Adjunct Professor at Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis from September 2014 to September 2015. Earlier in their career, they served as the Director of Convention Services at Hyatt Regency Indianapolis from January 1982 to July 1989.
Susie Townsend graduated from Indiana University Bloomington in 1979 with a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) degree, majoring in Marketing.
